Howard Conkey is a former journalist who started his career as a free-lance reporter covering the Ethiopian-Eritrean war. After working for several rural newspapers, he joined The Canberra Times and eventually became a political correspondent in the Federal Press Gallery. He was a media adviser for Ministers in the Hawke and Keating Governments and later a senior public servant heading up the public affairs areas of several departments before working as a consultant on environmental issues including climate change, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. Tad’s Legacy is his first book.
